The European Day of Languages (EDL) aims to celebrate linguistic diversity by showing people across Europe how important languages are and what fun can be had learning them. The European Day of Languages is 26 September. It was set up by the Council of Europe and was first celebrated in 2001. It’s getting bigger every year, with 45 countries now involved. European Day of Languages 2010

How will you be celebrating EDL this year? We want to hear how schools across Scotland will be celebrating, so if you want to publicise your event on this blog, or arrange for a member of Scottish CILT staff to attend your event, please contact us by email.

We have examples on our website of how schools have celebrated in the past.

Visit the EDL pages of our website for more information on EDL 2010.
